It is recently revealed that the shoujo and yuri light novel, Maria-Sama ga Miteru (Maria Watches Over Us) will have a live-action movie adaptation. The movie's lead stars will be models Honoka Miki, as Yumi Fukuzawa, and Haru, as Sachiko Osagawara.

Maria-sama ga Miteru's story revolves around the students of the Lillian Girls' Academy (a Catholic school), and can be considered character-driven, focusing on interactions between the characters rather than any sort of ongoing plot or goal to attain. At Lillian Girls' School, there is a tradition known as the sur system (French for sister), in which a second, or third-year student, the grande sur (big sister), will give her rosary to a junior student, the petite sur (little sister), and promise to look after them and guide them.

Maria-sama ga Miteru is originally a series of light novels written by Oyuki Konno. It also spun an 8-volume manga adaptation drawn by Satoru Nagasawa. It was later adapted into a 4 season anime series which originally run from January 2004 to March 2009.

Maria-Sama ga Miteru live action movie also stars Alice Hirose (Tsutako Takeshima), Nana Akiyama  (Eriko Torii), Kaoru Hirata (Youko Mizuno), Karen Takizawa (Sei Satou), Rikako Sakata (Rei Hasekura), and Hitomi Miyake (Yoshino Shimazu).

Maria-Sama ga Miteru live action movie will open in Japan this fall.
